Review: Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge

I've noticed that a few people wanted more information on this product, and I've received a few requests for it so here it goes..

Product Review

Sonia Kashuk Blending Sponge $9.99

I bought this product after reading all of the great reviews on the beauty blender sponge from PurelyCosmetics.com. I honestly didn't want to pay the $19.99 for that product so I went hunting around for an imitation. I bought this sponge at Target and it was located in the makeup brush section of the Sonia Kashuk line. I've been using this product for a little while now and I must admit it's taking the place of my foundation brush and makeup sponges. Once you learn how to use this sponge it makes your makeup application come together really quickly.

Pros

-The pointed tip allows for quick application on the sides of your nose, chin, and eyes without having to slow down.
-The rounded tip allows for you to apply foundation to your forehead and cheeks really quickly and evenly, meaning you don't need to go back and reapply to certain spots. Time saver!
-The sponge absorbs less product than brushes and other sponges meaning you use less product and save money. Money saver!
-It's small enough to fit in your hand comfortably, and the curved shape makes it easy to hold.

Cons
-This needs to be replaced every 3 months, where quality brushes don't, so this can get expensive.
-Cleaning this takes a little longer than you would need to clean your brushes.

Overall
This product has become an every day staple for me. It's great for evening out your complexion quickly.

4 out of 5.
I would have given this a 5 out of 5, but the fact that this needs to be replaced so often can become a hassle.

Tip: How to clean your Sonia Kashuk blending sponge: Use Dr. Bronners Magic Soap to clean (thank you for the tip Vanessa G). I rinse the sponge under running water for a few seconds and then I GENTLY rub some of the Dr. Bronners soap into the sponge. I keep rinsing the sponge out until foundation/soap stop coming out of it. I then put it on a paper towel to dry overnight.

EDIT: Robyn is the one who told Vanessa G the cleaning tip, and she passed it along to me. Thank you ladies!

  2. I know many have had their Beauty Blenders for longer than the 3-4 months that the company says they last - I'm curious to know if it's the same with this sponge as well. I'm also surprised that it's harder to wash than your brushes - perhaps there is a difference in the materials, because my Beauty Blender washes lickety-split! (BTW, I'm the one who told Vanessa about Dr. Bronner's, LOL. Great for washing my brushes too).
