Mommy Monday - Turtle Back Zoo
Kaley and I have named this summer - The Summer of Adventure. We wrote a list at the beginning of the summer and we've been slowly working our way through the list. Turtle Back Zoo was one of our first adventures and it’s always such a fun time here!
Every time we've come here we are always greeted at the entrance by a peacock. On our last trip a peacock tried to get into the gift shop. The song "don't be suspicious" always pops into my head when I think about that, the peacock was trying to act so casual.
Our first stop is always Kona shaved ice. You know for energy. ;)
We saw some stingrays, but didn't stop to take a picture because the area smelled FISHY so we left quickly.
Then we walk over to the Safari to see the lions, giraffes, penguins, and turtles.
We walked right past the reptile area because as Kaley says "eww snakes!".
Then we visited with the flamingos and prairie dogs.
I love that they are always playing some type of island music when you visit the flamingo area.
We always finish up our visit by going on the train ride around the zoo and this time the carousel was open for us to take a ride.
We really like this zoo and it’s a fun place to visit for a few hours during the summer. Most of the zoo has shaded spots so even in the extreme heat it's not too bad. The only exception to the shaded areas is the safari, but you can always go into the penguin area to cool off for a bit.
Here's the Turtle Back Zoo website link for hours and pricing.
What local fun have you been having lately?

Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.
