Mommy Monday - Parenting with Confidence
Video Recap
Having confidence while being a parent can be very
difficult, especially with so many people offering advice and the
inexperience of being a first time parent. I know it may not seem like
it all the time, but you really do know what is best for your baby. My
best tip for having confidence in parenting is to do your research and
that comes in two forms - actually looking into the issue you are having
and then trying the solution you came up with. Not every solution is
going to be a winner, but you have to do what works for you and your
baby. Example - When Kaley was born 9-lbs we were constantly told to
only feed her one ounce since her stomach would be too tiny to take in
anymore. That wasn't the case with our baby and I think that advice is
USEFUL if your baby is born smaller. So after 4 days of fussing and
constantly worrying we decided to let her drink the 2-3 ounces she
wanted. And guess what? It worked! Yes she threw some of it up at times,
but who cares? She was happy because she was no longer hungry. Friends,
Family, and Professionals mean well and are knowledgeable; but no one
knows your baby better than you do. Do what is right for your baby, they
are counting on you to be their advocate.
