I Love Me!! Now Go Love Yourself!

Cheesy title, but you'll see where I'm going with it soon enough.

I finally decided to stop being lazy and scan the pictures I had printed from last Friday..yay!
This is the World Yacht the hubby & I went on. It was so pretty!!

The 9/11 lights behind us are sad & beautiful at the same time.

Now this picture below is my all time favorite picture. Now why is that..?? You can't even see my full outfit, my hair is all windblown, & heaven forbid you can't see the fab shoes I'm wearing!! haha..
It's because when I saw this picture I saw MYSELF. My first reaction wasn't ugh my hair or any type of criticism..it was wow I look pretty..and damn I look like a WOMAN. (Vain as hell I know, I mean geez it was my hubby's b-day! lol)  I was going for a Mad Men-ish type look and I think I accomplished that, I mean look at those hips..va va voom!!

Ok, now a few of you may be at the point that you're thinking..damn this chick is conceited!! I am NOT!! I am just very happy that I have come to a point in my life where I can appreciate myself for who I am and for how I look. There will always be something you don't like about yourself, but to someone else that may be their favorite part about you. Side story - The first time I really hung out with my hubby he said he loved how I have curves & hips. That has always stuck in my head.

When I was younger I was definitely chubbers & then as I was a teenager I was way too skinny..you know the stuff a lot of us go through. When I entered my early 20s I started developing hips and getting a little extra meat on my body, and I hated it!! I did all these types of exercises to get back to 'skinny' & I look back at those pictures & I really don't like the way I looked then. I wasn't being myself. Please don't get me wrong, I didn't OVER exercise or anything, I just didn't know how to love what I had.

I want you to find a way to love what YOU have. I know for most of us ladies it comes down to the physical things. I can't tell you exactly what will work for you, what moment will make everything click..but you have to try. You can't go around hating things about yourself, it's not healthy for you and those around you.

I'm going to share a few things that work well for me -
  • I write down my feelings. Cheesy? Yes! But it works for me, it lets me vent about how I'm feeling so I can then move on.
  • Experiment. Try a new haircut, a new lipstick, a new style. You never know what you may end up falling in love with and even if you don't you will find what you don't like, which is just as important.
  • Accept that there are things you won't be able to change. Yes, I would love to lose a few pounds around my middle, but will that make my life instantly better..?? NO!! So I will work on that part slowly & hopefully it will be the way I want it someday. If that day never comes..?? So what?!?! I can't wait to live my life till that day comes around.
  • Learn what works for you. This one is very important!! There's been a bit of trial and error for me, but for the most part I know what works for me. If you look at my outfit pictures/videos you will notice I belt 75% of my outfits..that look works for me. It takes the attention away from my middle and up to my ribcage. I  tend to wear more dresses or skirts, because I feel like my legs are one of my better features. Things you do NOT see me wearing - anything tight around my stomach, anything  really low cut, or anything too boxy - those things just don't work for me.
Now I know this entry may be a little out of my usual realm, but I really wanted to share the little bit of self love knowledge I have. I find it really sad when so many beautiful ladies are always down on themselves, especially concerning their looks. *hugs* Learn to love yourself..please!! It really will make your life so much better. Confidence can take you places that a piece of paper or looks never can.

Have a great weekend!!

  1. what a well thought out, heartfelt and truthful post. i love reading posts about mac eyeshadows and that new clarins lipstick just as much as the next girl, but that new lipstick isn't going to change my outlook on life, help me be a better person or to love myself more. i'll just love the lipstick. i really enjoyed this post! x

  3. I doubt people will think you're conceited. LOL. This is why we get along though--you have a love what yourself that not many people have for themselves and I wish more people were like you. I wish people would realize if they loved what God gave them the world would be a better place.XO
